Something bothered me last night when I was reading Angus King’s Gorsuch statement. King announced he wasn’t supporting highly qualified Judge Neil Gorsuch.
For starters, Gorsuch is a mainstream judge with impressive credentials and temperament. He answered over 1,200 questions about his judicial philosophy, background, cases, among other things. Gorsuch was polite and respectful throughout the entire process. Even, Assistant Minority Leader Dick Durbin praised his “great background.”
The major take away I had from Angus King’s statement is he doesn’t like that the Constitution limits the federal government’s power, which is a cornerstone of American Republican government. The Constitution is here to limit the powers of the government, while protecting the liberties of the individual.
I hope you share this with your friends and family. Thank you for calling and emailing Senator King’s office and voicing your support for Judge Gorsuch. We can now confirm that after a quarter century in politics, Angus King is a liberal Democrat, not an independent.
