Attention: John DeVeau wants your vote!
John DeVeau is running to represent District 149, which covers Caribou, New Sweden and Westmanland.
John is retired from the military (14 years) and law enforcement (14 years), and has 3 years experience as Executive Director of United Veterans of Maine.
He has been married to his wife, whom he affectionately refers to as ‘Queen Tammy’ for 18 years. They have two children, Shyanne and John and a beloved dog named Shadow.
Here are John’s responses to the Maine GOP ‘Getting To Know You’ questionnaire, enjoy!
Maine GOP: John, you’re retired, aren’t you supposed to be ‘living the dream’ right now? Why have you decided to run for office?
John: While I never thought I would run for office I feel that I have a duty to represent Caribou, New Sweden and Westmanland as a common sense candidate. As those who know me know, I speak my mind and get things done in a timely manner. These are some of the principals I will bring to Augusta to advocate for our communities.
Maine GOP: Do you have a platform you’re running on? What is it?
John: I feel that there needs to be more attention brought to Northern Maine. We still have the "2 Maine's" and Aroostook county is a large part of it. We need to focus more what we can do to bring job specific training, industry and additional resources for our veterans to Aroostook County.
Maine GOP: It's fair season in Maine, one of our favorite times of year. What is your favorite fair activity?
John: Judging the Blueberry Pie cook off.
Maine GOP: Sounds like we need to go to the fair with you! What has surprised you the most since you began the process of campaigning?
John: Everything, I never thought I would go back into public service.
Maine GOP: Finish the sentence: Above all else, I value ____
Thank you for taking a little time off from campaigning to answer our questions! We think you’ll be great in Augusta!
