Here are Karen’s responses to the Maine GOP ‘Getting To Know You’ questionnaire, enjoy!
Maine GOP: Representative Vachon, why are you running for office a third time?
Rep. Vachon: I am seeking a third term in the Maine House because I want to continue my work around affordable access to healthcare for all Mainer’s and addressing Maine’s Substance Use Disorder crisis.
Maine GOP: Do you have a platform? What is it?
Rep. Vachon: Job creation; welfare reform, tax relief, and energy optimization.
Maine GOP: We love a nice slice of pie. What is your favorite kind of pie?
Rep. Vachon: Blueberry Pie!
Maine GOP: What experience are you going to bring back to Augusta?
Rep Vachon: As a health insurance agent that serves the under 65 individual market, as well as Maine’s senior Medicare and Medicaid population, I have a broad based, hands on experience with the healthcare needs of Maine citizens. In my everyday work I connect people to the many resources available to serve Maine’s healthcare needs. I advocate for a more efficient, affordable, and accountable healthcare system that addresses the healthcare needs of all Mainer’s at a price that taxpayers can afford.
Maine GOP: Maine is such a diverse state, each district has its own unique culture. What makes your district special?
Rep. Vachon: Scarborough is home to Maine’s largest salt marsh - of which nearly all of its 3,100 acres makes up my district. It is why my district is called Coastal Scarborough. Scarborough Marsh is comprised of tidal and freshwater marsh, salt-creeks and uplands.
Thank you for taking the time to help us get to know you! We look forward to seeing you back in Augusta this Fall!
